Acetate

This material, used in inexpensive satin and the lining of clothing and draperies, usually requires dry cleaning. If the garmetn's label specifically permits washing, launder it in cold water with mild suds. Don't wring or twist the garment and don't soak colored items. Once it is clean, do not dry the garment in a dryer. Instead, air-dry by carefully spreading the garment out on terry-cloth bath towels on a horizontal surface or by draping it over a clothesline. Press the garment while it is still damp on the wrong side with a cool iron. If pressing on the right side, be sure to use a pressing cloth. Do not use nailpolish remover or other cleanings that contain acetone for stain removal. Acetone will dissolve acetate. Acetate may also be adversley affected by perfumes containing organic solvents.
